Sometimes Norman just cracks me up! He had a gift certificate to Nordstrom so he comes home with a few new pairs of shorts and this T shirt:

Who knew how prophetic this T shirt would prove to be. Our house was hit by lightening on Friday evening. The hit burned out a lot of stuff including our TV, dishwasher and router, and then impacted our air conditioning, sprinkler system, hot water heater and electrical system. A lot of this has been fixed, most importantly the air conditioning, but we are still dealing with all the paperwork for the homeowner’s claim we filed. At least no one got hurt and our house is still standing! Life sure does feel like a game of monopoly sometimes.

Justine and Brandon are Engaged! part 2

Back to Justine and Brandon’s Engagement Session in Cape May. After walking around Cape May, we moved to the beach. It was bright out…we waited and waited for the sun to set! We made the best of the light…and I love this first series of shots on the beach.

Brandon chose a beautiful ring for Justine!

The beach was lovely.

I love this shot!

Playing around in the (very cold) water.

Justine and Brandon were troopers to walk out on the jetty and stand in the water. This series of shots is great with the water all around them and the waves crashing.

Love the spray!

This was when a cold wave hit them!

Oh you guys are gorgeous!

This couple got annoyed that I was shooting there. I guess we were ruining their view. It made for a fun shot.

Justine and Brandon are Engaged! part 1

Justine is the only bride, if I recall correctly, to ask me to shoot her wedding without ever meeting me. I finally met Justine and Brandon in Cape May on a beautiful Sunday evening a few weeks ago.

Justine looked as cute as can be. I loved her little cream-colored dress.

We wandered around Cape May at first (before hitting the beach).

I know there are weird shadows over Justine and Brandon’s faces, but I liked this shot despite that.

So lovely!

This slate patio was perfect.

The light at the Pancake House was surprisingly flattering!

I asked Justine to look serious for a moment.

Brandon is very photogenic.

We stopped into a bar for a few shots….

….and this shot, at the pool table, was my favorite.

Now off to the beach. Stop in tomorrow for some great beach shots!

Mario’s Lemonade Stand 2012

I was fortunate enough to be asked to take pictures for the 2nd annual Mario’s Lemonade stand here in Swedesboro last weekend. There was lots of Lemonade.

And many people came out to support Mario.

There were sno-cones.

and face painting.

and even Sponge Bob!

Prizes.

And more prizes.

A dunk tank.

All this to support Mario. A little kid with a big heart who wants to raise money to find a cure for cancer.

Mario was busy playing during a lot of the event. He’s an honorary member of the fire company.

Here he is, on the left, with his buddy.

The Swedesboro/Woolwich Fire Company is so kind to host the event.

The music was loud!

I heard that Mario raised something like 40,000.00 to donate to the worthy cause! Congrats to Mario and all the volunteers for their hard work and dedication!

Montana, part 2

I drove from Billings and did about a 6 hour loop. I started in Columbus, MT. The hotel clerk said to stop in at the Atlas Bar. It’s a 100 year old bar and I almost didn’t go in. You’ll see, I was glad that I did.

Notice the 2 headed calf on the wall. It was born in 1962 and it died 3 weeks later. A funny story…when I was having lunch at the Cowboy bar, I sat across from a woman and her elderly father. They had gone to see the calf, in 1962, when it was alive!

My lunch ‘companions’ also said that this bar also used to have even MORE heads on the wall.

I did take this shot while driving. Luckily the roads were empty. I followed this airstream for some time.

The mountains, that I first saw outside of the airport in the distance, up close.

Nye Montana. No cell phone or 3g. I really was off the grid and the only way out was to go the way I came in. I heard there are 100 people living in Nye. There are 3 children that go to the school. This is the one church.

Montana has little casinos everywhere. Even Nye, population 100, had a casino. It didn’t have cell reception, but it has a casino.

Passing the cowboy bar, I decided to stop for lunch. It got good reviews on Yelp. I did have a good burger and spent lunch talking to some locals.

Dear Mom: The good thing about this part of the county was that I literally could stop the car in the middle of the road and take a picture.

Red Lodge

This candy store was very cool.

I loved these Safe-T pops growing up!

Driving on another desolate back road, I saw this and pulled over. This is a sad story…google the Smith Mining Disaster if you’d like to know more.

These abandoned buildings were cool. If I weren’t alone, I would have gone down to them.

I wish again, that you could have been here to see this. This gulch was pretty deep and you can see the buildings in the distance.

Last, but not least, here’s the part of the country I was in. I used an old fashioned map to navigate as the 3G was really unreliable (forget about 4G)! I had a great trip!

Montana, part 1

I’m posting again because my mom misses my blog! Last week I took a quick trip to Billings, Montana. I wanted to take some pictures so I took my Fuji X100 (and not my good DSLR). These shots turned out great–the fuji does color really well. Most of these are straight out of the camera with no post production.

This was the scene from the road right outside the airport in Billings, MT. You can see snow-capped mountains if you look closely at the horizon. I chased those mountains my entire trip.

These next few shots are from downtown Billings. Billings was quite interesting. Seemed to be smaller than Allentown or Wilmington, but for Montana it’s considered to be populated!

I had heard that politics in Billings are pretty rough.

LOL my rental car!

This is going into the Beartooth Mountains. The road is a long winding road full of switchbacks which they close until sometime in May. It winds back and forth between Montana and Wyoming and it ends up in eastern Yellowstone. I only went so far. There were not a lot of cars and I felt really alone.

I really wish these shots could leave you with a sense of the scale. And of the wind whistling through the pines. I wear a lot of scarves and the one I had on this day almost blew away in the wind.

A sign reminding visitors they are in bear country! Yikes.

I saw a lot of dead pine trees. They looked pretty against the green, but I know it’s not good that the pine tree population is dwindling.

This is where they close the pass in the winter months (which are from Oct to May)!

I loved this rock. I pulled over on the side of the road to take these next shots.

This was very cool.

I have been blogging for years now, six years to be exact. There have been years where I’ve blogged every single day. This is the third iteration of my blog and I have to tell you something– I think I’m finished with blogging! I’m tired of it and I haven’t been feeling creative for a while, so I’m going to take a break. Facebook, also, tends to make blogging irrelevant, since it’s so easy to post photos there. To think of the number of images I’ve posted in six years…the people and flowers and shots from trips I’ve taken….is crazy. I started the blog because I had something to say. I think I’ve said it all now so maybe this break will be permanent, but more likely than not I’ll be posting images from a few events coming up. So, this is the last post for a few weeks, and we’ll see how it goes from there.
